Now that is what i call thinking outside the box. Understanding the game perfectly (structure, odds, psychology) and acting accordingly. The cards are the most unimportant thing in a poker game. Congrats Gus for this exhibition.
Gus Hansen is an awesome player. People don't base your entire opinions of him on this. He can switch up his strategy. For this tournament it was do or die. He had to play all-in every hand style. This a good quote for poker "In doesn't matter where you place only 1st gets the money." Nnegreanu laughed out so loud when that queen came out on the flop

Poker Stars World Open 2006 -It is very funny to watch Tony G knocked out ouf this tournament with pocket Kings.... The guy had a respectable hand and flopped a set. tough spot for tony g it's more of a cooler (two extremely strong hands) than a bad beat because it was on the flop and most of the money went in after the flop (again because of the strength) of the hands. tony is a good loser because he knows its pointless to talk once he's out. he talks when wins to try and tilt opponents.

I think that was disgraceful he should have be punished for that. One thing to talk a person into calling another is to insult a person who gets knock out. That should not be allow in any poker room. He is an obnoxious, rude, fat-slob. I cannot stand him. What a prick, I have no respect for guys like him. I have 100% respect for the russian guy, for keeping his cool! I don't know how many people can control themselves in front of that nasty guy.

Daniel Negreanu explains to the table that a raise from 300 to 5000 is not the way the game should be played. Dan's point - It is dumb to bet 10 times the size of the pot when the pot is small. A smart bet is between half the size of the pot and the total size of the pot. To risk $5,000 to win a $500 pot is idiotic. It's like paying $100 for a loaf of bread. It's also like putting $10 in a slot machine when the jackpot is only $1. In other words - The point is you're not going to coinflip with AK, because they are only going to call a HUGE overbet like that if they have you crushed. Basically you're risking 5,000 to win 300 and in the case where you get called you are going to be very, very, very far behind. You dumb fuck, learn to play n00b.

Is there a right way and wrong way to play poker?? I'm not really sure, I mean any player can play however they wish, with whatever cards they want. Just because it's not a textbook play, people get defensive, because they wouldn't make the call, don't get me wrong I hate it when i get called with a shitty hand and then they win in the end agaisnt my strong hand. What are you gonna do. TJ Cloutier takes on an amateur who has made it all the way to the final table. this is 98 i think.
amature??? u must be kidding me man this guy is like 4 time runner up in the biggest tournament in the world, hes favored on the flop NEWTON, which is why he played it its the type of hand u can crack a big hand, sit there and wait for aces agianst tj and scotty and see wtf happens.
