That has to be the worst beat in the history of poker...
wow, what do you say to that? I mean, if you had quad aces and got beat by a royal flush, what the hell do you say to that?
If you flop a set of aces, river quads and lose!... THAT'S A BAD BEAT!
I wish that would have happened to Phil Hellmuth...it'd be an instant blow-up classic.
Royal flush is the same as a straight flush, its just the highest straight flush.
Mabuchi made the mistake of letting Philips see the turn. Now, granted Philips flopped the straight draw, and was coming along, but in reality if Mabuchi had gone all in after flop it is doubtful that Philips would have called. But again, Mabuchi was trying to get maximum value on his hand. Who on earth could put Philips on K-J of Diamonds..

Juanda at the end: 'I had trips' very proudly.. like it was a good laydown..
beyond epic. I have had a royal twice in my life and they came in the same night I was at a local casino and was playing 1/2 cash game I had ak of spades flopped a straight then turned the royal I won a 550 (pre rake and tip) dollar pot plus one grand for making a royal then I had it again playing the same stakes later that night this time I rivered it but didnt win as much in the pot but another one grand was nice
I flopped an ace-five straight flush before and had to fake a cough to cover my smile, but everyone folded anyway. No way I could have made any money even if I had that royal haha
