Well, yes and no... The slot machines use an RNG (random number generator) to determine their results but they have very few random numbers tied to a big win result, and most of the numbers will result in a small win or no win. The RNG is cycling through thousands of numbers per second and the moment you hit "spin" you get whatever result it's on... So no he wouldn't have gotten all those symbols because hitting the max bet button would have been at a different nanosecond giving a different result.
